Teachers can enhance their job market opportunities by adding endorsements to their teaching licenses. Licensed, general instruction K-12 teachers can complete a 3-credit hour, graduate-level course and then submit their transcript to the Arkansas Department of Education to apply for a 418 Career Development endorsement.

Once a teacher completes – CATE 4443 or CATE 5443, Teaching Career Development in Public Schools – they can apply for the Career Development endorsement from ADE. All public schools in Arkansas are required to offer Career Development to perspective 7th- or 8th-grade students. Teachers can use this endorsement to enhance their resumes and to spark conversation at job interviews.

The College of Education and Health Professions provides the coursework needed for teachers to submit a request for endorsement from ADE. Details about other endorsement plans offered through the University of Arkansas are listed on the Teacher Education website.
