Activating Your UARK Student Account
In order to access U of A services, you will need a UARK account. If you have not already done so, please activate your UARK account by using the personal email address and phone number used when applying as a student. You will also need access to the phone with that same phone number to setup multi-factor authentication.
How To Activate Your UARK Student Account
Information Needed for Activating Your UARK Account
- Personal Email
- Phone Number
- University ID#
- University Email
Activate Your Student Email Address
The U of A uses your email address to communicate with you.
The U of A (instructors, the treasurer's office, your academic advisers, etc.) will send important information to you through your UARK email address.
- Student Email Accounts
- Use Outlook On The Web
Log into Outlook Online with your UARK email address (including @uark.edu) and password. - Set Up The Outlook App
Create a new account in the Outlook app using your full UARK email address and UARK password. - About UARK Email
New faculty, staff and student employees are required to register multi-factor authentication for their UARK accounts.
Multi-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security that makes it difficult for unauthorized users to access services, applications and data. UARK accounts can be compromised by phishing scams, automated bots, targeted attacks, etc. Verifying your account with multi-factor is more secure, especially for services that grant access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

When to Enroll
After you meet with your adviser and your advising holds are removed you can enroll in classes during your Registration Period. View the semester academic calendar for the next enrollment start date. Generally registration for Summer/Fall classes begins in April and Spring classes begins in November. The Schedule of Classes will publish before the registration period begins so you can plan your schedule.
Preparing for Registration
Within Workday Student access your academics hub to review your holds, important contacts, and registration appointments.
Create An Academic Plan
Your academic plan is a semester-by-semester guide showing which courses you should take and when. It is recommended that you review your Academic Plan with your Advisor. Both students and Advisors can create Academic Plans.
Create a Saved Schedule
If you already have an academic plan, either that your advisor created or that you created yourself, you can then make a Saved Schedule of the sections of each course you would like to register for.
How Do Online Courses Work?
Blackboard Learn is a course management system that is used for most U of A online courses. Once you are registered, your course will become available as a link when the semester begins. You will securely log in to your course with your main university user ID and password. Before the semester begins you can login to Blackboard and take the tutorial class to learn how to navigate and access tools and resources in Blackboard. You can also schedule a call with an Online Student Liaison for a walk-thru of Blackboard. Students will need to be sitting at their desktop computer for this call.
Class Materials
Online students may rent or purchase their textbooks from the UA Bookstore and other retailers. Use the Find Course Materials page to identify which items are required for your class. You will need to know the Term, Department, Course, and Section. Students are expected to have a dedicated computer. All specifications are listed for each academic college on the UA Tech Store & Service Center website.
Sign Up for Orientation
For Undergraduate Students Only
Orientation introduces you to the technology, resources and supports of the University of Arkansas through a two-week non-credit course which takes place right before the semester you were admitted to start taking classes at the U of A. Your course will be led by a University of Arkansas faculty or staff member who will help you get to know the University, find new resources, and be prepared to start the semester confidently.
Important Things to Note
- Orientation is required for all incoming online undergraduate students.
- The course is fully online and does not require you to come to campus.
- The course runs for two weeks right before you start your first semester as an online student at the U of A.
- The course is not self-paced. You will need to set aside times that work for you over the two weeks to regularly participate, but you will not need to log in at specific times or dates.
