Construction Management
The online Sam and Janet Alley Master of Science in Construction Management is the first of its kind in the state and fills a growing need for construction leadership and expertise in all phases of development.
Identified as a critical resource by public and private construction industry leaders, this program will give construction managers who already have a bachelor’s degree the necessary skills to lead a construction project from the design phase through completion.
The program is named after Sam and Janet Alley, who have a long history of construction leadership in Arkansas and around the world.
As the construction boom over the past 25 years in Northwest Arkansas has shown, there is a need for qualified, trained individuals to step in and lead new projects. In consultation with regional and national construction firms, the College of Engineering designed this program to give students the inside information on techniques and skills needed to successfully complete the degree. After graduation, students will be qualified to serve as leaders in many of those same firms. Graduates will have skills to fill supervisor, management and leadership roles in their companies.
This 30-hour, interdisciplinary master’s degree program includes detailed lessons and assignments in scheduling, finance, productivity, efficiency, safety, contracts and risk management. The program involves the College of Engineering, the Sam M. Walton College of Business, the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, and the School of Law.

Requirements
- Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- An overall bachelor degree GPA of 3.0 or a 3.0 in the final 60 hours of the degree
- A GRE exam is not required

Tuition and fees per credit hour reflect fall 2024 rates for students studying completely online. Students in online programs who take an on-campus course will pay on-campus fees, mandatory and college fees, for only the on-campus course.

Sam Alley and his wife, Janet, created the Sam and Janet Alley Master of Science in Construction Management Program Endowment to establish an interdisciplinary master of science in construction management program housed in the College of Engineering. Inspired by his father, who was an entrepreneur, Alley co-founded VCC in 1987. The company is a leader in the construction industry and recognized as the largest retail contractor in the United States, and Alley serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
